Blog 4: Project Reflection & Working EQ

1. Positive Statement: A positive thing that has happened as a result of what I've completed so far is that I've solidified my desire to become a clinical social worker. Before, I was sure I wanted to pursue it but I still had my doubts about it because I wasn't sure if it would be as fulfilling as I thought. After the interview & the research that I've completed, I am now one hundred percent sure that this is what I want.

2. EQ Content: This has helped me improve my understanding of my topic because it has confirmed the information that I was already aware of. For example, my interviewee stressed the importance of studying psychology during your process of becoming a clinical social worker or therapist. This made me feel more prepared for what I'm going to study in the future.

3. So far in my senior project, what's working for me the most is how easy it is for me to get my research & other work done because this is a topic I'm so deeply interested in.

4. What hasn't worked so far is finding a mentorship. It's really hard because of all the liability & legal problems, such as my age & lack of experience.

5. Finding Value: A possible question that has come to mind regarding what I would like to study for this year is how could I utilize the skills I've obtained from being at iPoly for two years to my advantage in my future career. My end goal for this year with my project is to know about every aspect there is to learn about being a clinical social worker. I really want to be knowledgeable about the profession & I want to have an advantage in it when I'm studying in college. I want to have a better idea of what is expected out of being a clinical social worker. I would like to talk to any clinical social worker or therapist I can get a hold of because every person has a different story as to how to they got to where they are. I think how a person got to be a profession such as social worker would be a very wide opening experience to anyone who is willing to listen to that person. To be a social worker is a very long & emotionally draining process. I really hope I can learn from whoever I interview's experience.
